Thanks to Nita and Warwick, Our Mental Health First Aid Trainers!…

May 16th, 2023 | Blog

Our Trainers, Nita Dodd Advanced Health Improvement Practitioner and Warwick Smith, Health Improvement Practitioner, have been busy providing bespoke sessions for Mental Health First Aid Training within businesses and communities throughout Plymouth! With that, they have had some great feedback and we wanted to share with you how the training has helped someone with their own mental health and well as their families…

“I wanted to thank Nita and Warwick for MHFA training. Beyond what is written in the official feedback forms I wanted you to know that I learnt some things about myself and my own previous personal experiences with MH issues within my family and close friends. What this training did for me helped me clarify some behaviours I had experienced. I was disappointed in myself for not seeing before what I would certainly see more clearly today after participating in the two days of training.

My son was training to be a nurse when COVID started to gain momentum and worked away from home for much of that time. He was on a COVID ward, head to toe in PPE, 12-hour days, not eating properly, dealing with loss, miles from home, living by himself, and trying to deal with the chaos of that environment whilst learning. I never spotted the signs of his mental health deterioration until it was almost too late. Probably the only time in my life I felt I failed as a parent. Harrowing times, but I am happy to say that the experience has made me and my son much more aware of the fragility of our own physical and mental health. It’s opened my eyes to my own poor behaviour in spotting early signs of crisis. Thank you for adding direction to my journey”

It is so inspirational to know that by providing this training we are bringing an insight to individual’s mental health and how they can further support themselves as well as their family and friends.

Our Mental Health First Aid Training can be offered publicly or through bespoke sessions for businesses and communities. We have recently readdressed our pricing also and have reduced our Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) from £120 to £60!
