safeTALK Training

Competitively priced safeTALK training for businesses and communities within Plymouth. Take part in our training to become a suicide-alert helper to provide practical support if suicide situations arise.

Our mental health is important to us all.

The possibility of becoming mentally unwell does not discriminate on the basis of one's background, identity, or occupation. There are times when mental health issues can escalate to suicidal thoughts. In that regard, we believe it is crucial that every individual is equipped with the knowledge and confidence to act as a suicide-alert helper in an emergency situation.

SafeTALK is open to everyone over 16 years old to become a suicide-alert helper. It is a course that complements our more comprehensive 2-day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) by conveniently widening the net of suicide alert helpers to ensure suicide thoughts aren't missed, dismissed or avoided.

Within safeTALK , you will be prepared to notice and respond to situations where suicidal thoughts might be present.

You will not be taught how to be a therapist, but you will be taught to know what to do if someone's suicidal by following the easy to remember TALK steps - Tell, Ask, Listen and Keep-safe. You will develop skills to recognise invitations for help which are sometimes overlooked and move beyond the common tendencies that miss, dismiss and avoid suicide. You will develop the skills to confidently approach and support someone in need whilst also keeping your own safety in mind.

You will also be provided with community resources and the knowledge in how to connect someone with thoughts of suicide to them for further help.

Please note: You must be 16 and over to attend this course.

This course is available only for those living or working within the Plymouth community.
