January 9th, 2024 | Case Study

TH March is celebrating after achieving Bronze status within the Wellbeing at Work Award programme and receiving recognition for its work to improve the health and wellbeing of its staff.

To achieve a Wellbeing at Work Bronze Award, businesses must set up a working group, carry out a the workplace needs assessment, and establish wellbeing champions who are responsible for helping colleagues to keep healthy.

Throughout the process, they are supported by Wellbeing at Work Advisor, Jennifer Jenkins, Specialist Health Improvement Practitioner, Wellbeing at Work at Livewell Southwest.

“TH March has shown its commitment to staff health and wellbeing through a staff steering group who holds regular meetings, a staff survey, and wellbeing champions. A wealth of health and wellbeing activities take place regularly including Alcohol Awareness Week, Healthy Eating Week, Men’s Health Week, World Sleep Day, National Walking Month, Know Your Numbers Week, National Cholesterol Awareness Week, Mental Health Day, Mental Health Awareness Week, Talk Money Week and Diabetes Awareness Month. Employees can also access a Wellbeing Champion for further help and information.” Jennifer Jenkins, Specialist Health Improvement Practitioner at Wellbeing at Work, Livewell Southwest

“The Wellbeing Committee was established in 2019 with just a few members of staff involved, since then engagement has grown, and TH March now have a full Committee with companywide representation. One aspect of our strategy was to widen the conversation around mental health. We now have 14 trained Mental Health First Aiders. This was so important to me given the difficult past few years we have all experienced. Staff need to feel supported and connected” Jo Morgan – Regional Director of HR, TH March speaking on Employee Wellbeing and Mental Health First Aider Training.

TH March is also recognised as ‘Committed to being a Menopause Friendly Employer’ with MenoHealth.

“To begin our journey, we started the TH March “Menopause Matters Group” in October 2022. We hold virtual meetings to discuss and share experiences plus accelerating change in menopause in the workplace best practice with external speakers joining us. I am very proud of the initiatives we have in place and promoting wellbeing is now part of our company culture, creating an environment that encourages, educates, and enables staff to put their wellbeing as a priority.” Jo Morgan – Regional Director of HR, TH March.

“The team works well together choosing different awareness days to share with staff and coming up with ways we can involve colleagues to support their health and wellbeing. I am looking forward to what we can do next for our colleagues” Jenny Warr – Wellbeing Committee Member at TH March.

Wellbeing at Work looks forward to continuing to work alongside TH March and supporting them with staff health and wellbeing, and with Wellbeing at Work Silver and Gold Awards.
