Wellbeing at Work are commissioned by Plymouth City Council to deliver services to businesses in Plymouth or to those businesses with over 50% of their employees having a Plymouth postcode.

Sitel Achieve Bronze Award

A Plymouth business is celebrating after receiving recognition for its work to improve the health and wellbeing of its staff as part of the Wellbeing at Work Scheme and becoming the first business to achieve Bronze status.

Sitel joined the scheme when it launched and have been working hard to achieve the Bronze Award.

Kirstie Wright, HR manager at Sitel was presented with the award by Dr Adam Morris, chief executive of Livewell Southwest, Jan Potter, head of health improvement at Livewell and Tim Collicott, advanced health improvement practitioner.

Dr Morris said: “Our mission is to support people to lead independent, healthy lives and our Wellbeing at Work scheme ensures that this is achievable in the workplace as well as at home.

“As an employee-led organisation I’m proud of our staff for leading the way in health and wellbeing and encouraging others to do the same in their workplaces.

“We know how much of a positive impact a healthy and happy workforce can have in the workplace and I’m delighted that Sitel have achieved our Bronze Award.”

In order to achieve a Bronze Award, businesses have to set up a working group, carry out a workplace needs assessment, a health and safety assessment and establish wellbeing champions who are responsible for helping colleagues to keep healthy by coming up with initiatives such as fruity Friday.

Tim, who has supported Sitel, said: “We spend a lot of time at work and the workplace has a massive impact on our health and wellbeing so it’s a good place to look at how we can support people to look after their health and wellbeing.

“Sitel have shown real dedication to being involved in the Wellbeing at Workplace scheme.

“Already there are 12 wellbeing champions in place and Sitel have got great plans in place to take the work forward including organising mental health first aid training with us and a commitment to work towards the next awards.”

Kirstie added: “Since our site opened in the Spring of 2017 we have made it our objective to build health and wellbeing into the way that we work.

“Our HR, operational and support teams along with our wellbeing champions collaborate together to design and maintain health and wellbeing activities tailored to our site and staff, and the expert guidance and practical support that we have received from the Wellbeing team from day one has been instrumental in us creating this strong foundation for the future.”
