Healthy Aging Resource Planning

Nearly a quarter (22%) of employers think that their organisation is unprepared for an ageing workforce, and the same proportion of employers have faced issues with managing age diversity at work, most commonly with older workers feeling uncomfortable working under younger managers.

There is an opportunity to support and work with employers to recruit, retain and retrain older workers. This may include through provision such as flexible working, part time working and making reasonable adjustments, as well as development and training opportunities. Key areas highlighted by the Centre for Ageing Better also include reducing age bias in recruitment, promoting good quality flexible work, and maximising the benefits of age diversity.

Public Health England is therefore looking to develop an employer resource on healthy ageing and is looking to do some user testing with businesses to see how we can best engage with them in this topic. If you could spare 15 minutes to talk go through a quick survey for Public Health England that would be much appreciated.
